Board of Directors
Peacebuild is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors currently comprised of five members who set policy and establish strategies for the network. Directors are elected by Peacebuild members at the Annual General Meeting.

Margaret (Peggy) Mason - Group of 78
Mason has been an Advisor to the Canadian Foreign Ministry on the control of small arms, chaired the UN 2001 Group of Governmental Experts study on small arms regulation and was a member of the Canadian delegation to the UN Conference on the Illicit Trade in Small Arms and Light Weapons in all its Aspects (NYC, July 2001). Since 2002 she has been a member of the Biting the Bullet Consultative Group Process, a "track two" process of government officials, academics and NGO experts, which recently met in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in preparation for the July 2005 Biennial Meeting of States in NYC to consider their progress in implementing the UN Programme of Action against the proliferation and misuse of small arms.
Since November 2002, Peggy Mason has been a Senior Fellow at the Norman Paterson School of International Relations (NPSIA) at Carleton University, in Ottawa, Canada where she has taught a graduate seminar on International Organizations.
Ms. Mason chairs the Ottawa-based foreign policy NGO, the Group of 78. She is a very active member of the Campaign Against Ballistic Missile Defence.
In February 2005 Ms Mason participated in an Expert Workshop sponsored by Foreign Affairs Canada on verification and compliance issues in relation to weapons of mass destruction and, in cooperation with the Polaris Institute of Ottawa, she has begun work on Space Security.

Lindsay Mossman - Amnesty International
Lindsay Mossman has a Master of Arts from the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs in Ottawa Canada, with a concentration on conflict analysis and conflict resolution. Her academic background is in civil conflict in sub-Saharan Africa, including field research and a Master’s dissertation on “Gender Equality in Post-Conflict Sierra Leone.” Lindsay is currently the Campaigner on Women’s Human Rights at Amnesty International Canada, covering national and international human rights issues related to gender equality and women’s rights. She has been an active member of the Gender and Peacebuilding Working Group of Peacebuild.

Nathan Funk - University of Waterloo's Conrad Grebel University College
Nathan C. Funk (Ph.D., American University, 2000) is Assistant Professor of Peace and Conflict Studies at the University of Waterloo's Conrad Grebel University College, with previous appointments at American University and George Washington University. His writings on international conflict resolution include two co-edited volumes, Peace and Conflict Resolution in Islam (2001) and Ameen Rihani: Bridging East and West (2004), and the forthcoming book, Islam and Peacemaking in the Middle East (2008). His current research focuses on the role of cultural and religious factors in conflict as well as in peacebuilding capacity development.

Martin Fischer - Doctoral Candidate
Martin Fischer is a doctoral candidate at the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs. His dissertation investigates the UN Security Council's decision-making prcoess on the authorization of UN peace operations to use military force to protect civilians. He has worked for a broad spectrum of organizations involved in the prevention and management of conflict, including the Friedrich Ebert-Stiftung in Ethiopia, the Friedrich Naumann-Stiftung in Indonesia and the UNDP in Ukraine. Martin is a member of the Global Partnership for the Prevention of Armed Conflict's Early Warning/Early Response working group. His most recent publication co-authored with David Carment, is "R2P and the Role of Regional Organizations in Ethnic Conflict Management, Prevention and Resolution" Global Responsibility to Protect, Vol. 1.3 (2009), 261-290 (lead article).
